Sutherland Shire Councils Economic Development Unit recently conducted focus groups with local Home-Based Businesses (HBBs). We were told some issues that HBBs would like addressed:
* Networking opportunities
* Temporary office/meeting space
* Improvement of Broadband services
So here's what we're doing:
Networking
Our first special networking function will be held on Thursday, 12 November.
Office/meeting space
1. If you need an office to impress a client, have a private meeting, or want some peace and quiet to meet that deadline, we can help. The SSHED (council’s business accelerator at Loftus) has a fully equipped 'hot office' you can rent from just $20 per hour.

Broadband
Council continues to discuss broadband services in the Shire with the relevant agencies and as recently as July this year, made submissions to the NSW Department of Planning regarding the
'Draft NSW Telecommunications Facilities Code including Broadband' to ensure the best local service.

Home based business kit
A Home-Based Business Kit has been put together to provide a range of information, from different organisations, to help people setting up a home-based business. Information in the kit comes from the council, the Business Enterprise Centre, Australian Taxation Office and NSW Department of State and Regional Development.
A home-based business kit is available for pick-up at Council's Customer Service desk.
